Way cool shoes...

We get to see just about everything rolling through our studio at one time or another. But, every once in awhile something comes in that really makes an impact. A local tattoo artist has made a great secondary business tattooing shoes...yes, shoes!

Latisha Wood who works at Vatican Studios here in Lake Forest, CA. ran these over the other day and asked us to get some shots before they were shipped off to the client for Valentines Day.

Pretty cool stuff. Can't wait to see her next set!

Time for Medium Format

For those of you that know me, I have been a Nikon user since I was a teenager. Needless to say, I have been waiting (along with all other professional Nikon users) for the next release of the pro level cameras.

Then came the announcement! The D4...woohoo!

Like a kid at Christmas, I couldn't wait to read all about it. But instead of getting the toy I really wanted, I felt like I got a pack of socks.

Now to be fair, I have not had a chance to get my hands on it. But, after reading all of the specs, I am not sure I see a major reason to drop that much coin.

Yes, it has great ISO capabilities and Yes, it has great video. But personally, I have never needed to push past ISO 6400 from my D3 and D700. And even if I did, it was at a highschool football game at night and the images still came out more than acceptable. As for video, I have already dropped plenty of money on a HD rig, and am more than happy with the video results I get from that system.

So after much deliberation, I have decided it is time to begin exploring Medium Format systems. Particularly Hasselblad and Phase. I have used both at one time or another and have always loved the results. I could just never justify the cost of one of those systems. Well, prices are definately dropping. If you think about the price point of a H4D-31 from Hasselblad at an entry point of $13k, it is not really that much more than a high end Nikon or Canon system.

Let the fun begin...I will update regularly on my findings and thoughts.

Stay tuned...

New Year, New Site, New Blog

Well, I have been threatening to do this for years. I guess the time has come ... I am going to write a blog.

So now, what to say? I guess that's what keeps alot of people from writing a blog, they feel they don't have anything important to say. For me, that's not the case. I have plenty to say, I just have to dedicate the time to type it out.

My mission:

  1. Share My Latest Work
  2. Share My Experiences with grear, sorftware, computers, etc
  3. Share some knowledge along the way (but not all of my tricks)
  4. Have a good time!

So check back often, and please make some comments!!
